What is Digital Literacy?

The ability to understand and, evaluate and integrate information in multiple formats via computer and the Internet.
How is Digital Literacy different from traditional literacy?
Information and understanding is not limited to text.
Information technology allows for multimedia resources:
- Video
- Audio
- Photos
- Sharing, not a single source

The Internet & Computing Benchmark & Mentor resource now provides a method for measuring an individual's digital literacy abilities. The Benchmark takes a snapshot of an individual's skills while the Mentor resource provides and individual with three levels of assistance, allowing that person to reach the certification standard which is IC3.
