Starting June 2, 2010, the Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS) Programme will be formally renamed Microsoft Office Specialist 2007 (MOS 2007).
Following recent analysis on market recognition of the MCAS program name, Certiport and Microsoft cannot ignore the fact that the MOS brand is significantly more recognisable by certification candidates and possesses substantially stronger brand equity for all parties involved with the programme. Originally launched in 1998, the MOS brand has stronger visible alignment with the Microsoft Office Products and presents a simpler message for customers.
It’s important to note the MCAS certification is still a valid and recognised certification and the syllabus will stay the same. However, from June 2nd candidates will start to receive MOS 2007 certification.
More information is available through this FAQ document and further information will be released over the coming weeks.
